Gravel By Moonlight

Updated: Aug 18, 2019

Last night 5 brave souls headed out on a moonlight gravel ride in Coahoma, Texas.

Coahoma has some of the best gravel roads around and there are so many route options, it is amazing. We had 2 distances to choose from and 2 picked the 60, 2 took the 40 and 1 took the 25 miler.

We rode out East of town on old CCity Highway, which is dirt and it did have some pretty sandy spots we had to walk but overall it was a good road. The gravel bike with 38mm tires worked out well for 90% of the ride. The road has some decent hills and the sandy spots were at the bottom of most of them,

We all rode together until mile 15 and we parted ways for different routes. There were storms looming in the distance and we were trying our best to miss them. We got lucky and stayed dry, but kept checking the radar occasionally to make sure we were safe.

We finished up the 40 miler around 11 p.m. and the 60 miler had to divert south of I20 to avoid a deluge and they finished around an hour later.

Great ride and great friends to share it with!

Next one is September 13th, come ride!

Meet at Coahoma HS football field @ 7:00 p.m. Ride-Off
